Over the last few years, there’s been a huge shift towards health and wellbeing — with gyms, cold-dip studios, and saunas appearing everywhere. But for us, the best kind of wellbeing has always come from something much simpler: being outdoors.

We’re Danielle and Neil, and for the past 20 years we’ve spent our lives exploring the outdoors — climbing, hiking, canyoning, kayaking, swimming, and everything in between. We’ve seen firsthand how spending time in nature can completely change the way you feel. It clears your mind, lifts your mood, and helps you see things with a fresh perspective.
That’s why we’ve launched our brand-new Health & Wellness Days — to help others experience those same benefits, right here on the Welsh coast.
Why Being Outdoors Makes Such a Difference
We’ve both gone through times when life felt busy, stressful, or overwhelming — and every single time, getting outside helped us reset.
There’s something about the sea air, the sound of the waves, and that first deep breath of fresh air that instantly helps you slow down.
It’s not just us who feel it — research shows that spending time outdoors can:
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Boost focus and creativity
- Lift your mood and energy
- Improve sleep and motivation
But you don’t need science to tell you that. You just need to get out there and feel it for yourself.
What Our Health & Wellness Days Are All About
Our Health & Wellness Days are a simple, relaxed way to boost your wellbeing.
We meet at Caswell Bay, where we set off for a coastal walk or run, followed by a cold dip in the sea (don’t worry — we provide wetsuits and buoyancy aids, and you can go at your own pace). There’s also the option to try bodyboarding if you fancy adding a bit more fun to the mix.
We finish with hot drinks on the beach, surrounded by fresh air, friendly faces, and the sound of the sea.
It’s suitable for all fitness levels, and open to individuals, families (children 8+), community groups, and corporate teams — and yes, friendly dogs are welcome too!
Why It’s About More Than Fitness
For us, these days aren’t about pushing yourself to the limit. They’re about feeling good.
Cold dipping is amazing for your body and mind — it boosts endorphins, improves circulation, and leaves you feeling alive — but it’s also about shared experience and connection.
Whether you’re laughing your way through the waves or walking along the coast with new friends, it’s those simple moments that make the biggest difference.
That’s what this is all about: spending time outdoors, together, and giving yourself space to breathe.
For Community Groups & Corporate Teams
If you’re part of a mental health or wellbeing group, or a business looking to support staff wellbeing, we’d love to hear from you. We can arrange private or open sessions to suit your group, helping people reconnect with nature and each other in a relaxed, positive environment.
It’s a great alternative to indoor wellness activities and naturally encourages reflection, laughter, and teamwork.

Danielle is the co-founder of Blue Ocean Activities, a family-run adventure company based in South Wales. For over 17 years, she’s managed the behind-the-scenes side of the business — from bookings and logistics to marketing and new ideas — helping the team grow into one of Wales’s top-rated outdoor activity providers.
Alongside her husband Neil, Danielle has spent more than 20 years exploring the outdoors — walking, running, and spending time by the sea. Having experienced the mental health benefits of being in nature herself, she’s passionate about helping others enjoy those same rewards through Blue Ocean’s new Health & Wellness Days.
When she’s not working on the business, Danielle loves spending time outdoors with her family, discovering new coastal spots, and enjoying the fresh Welsh air.
