Looking for a family day out that is more memorable than the usual attraction? Gorge walking in Wales is a brilliant way to explore the Brecon Beacons together.
Is Gorge Walking Suitable For Children?
Our minimum age is 10. Sessions are guided and all specialist equipment — wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet — is provided. Activities are adjusted around the group and optional features mean people can choose their own level of challenge.
Children often love the mix of water, scrambling, natural slides and achievable challenges. Adults usually enjoy it just as much once they get involved.
What Should Families Expect?
The instructor will begin by helping everyone get fitted with equipment and giving a straightforward safety briefing. The route starts gently, allowing the group to get used to the water and the environment before progressing.
There is no need for previous experience. See our gorge walking for beginners guide for a fuller step-by-step picture of the day.
A Few Practical Tips
Bring swimwear for under the wetsuit, old trainers that can get wet, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. See our full what to wear for gorge walking guide before you travel.
If a child is nervous around water or cannot swim, let us know in advance. Non-swimmers can often take part, but knowing beforehand helps us give the right advice and support.
